New instruments, new constellations: Turkish composer Turgut Erçetin’s idea of having four soloists specializing in new music play baroque instruments for the first time and then combining them with a classical-romantic orchestra is a bit crazy. It is not least about the friction that can arise when aspects from different eras and contexts come together. Cervantes’ literary hero Don Quixote also lives in a world that occasionally seems crazy, i.e. somehow displaced. Franck Bedrossian resurrects him as a pianist on an instrument that is percussively expanded and sometimes played by a percussionist Sancho Panza. And will new constellations also be found within the orchestra? Milica Djordjević goes in search of this. (Lydia Jeschke)
