Johannes Keller

Johannes Keller grew up in eastern Switzerland. He studied early music with Jörg-Andreas Bötticher, majoring in harpsichord, and completed a master’s degree in basso continuo and ensemble conducting with Jesper Christensen and Andrea Marcon at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. In 2010, he was accepted into the Deutsche Bank Foundation’s Academy of Music Theatre Today. Johannes Keller is co-founder of the basso continuo ensemble Il Profondo and the duo L’Istante and works regularly with Andrea Marcon and the La Cetra Baroque Orchestra (including at the Theater Basel, the Frankfurt Opera and the Festival d’Aix en-Provence) as well as with the Venice Baroque Orchestra. He also collaborates with contemporary composers such as Vito Žuraj and Caspar Johannes Walter. He has made guest appearances with ensembles such as the Ensemble Modern. Since 2013, he has also been a lecturer in intonation and tuning at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. From 2020 to 2024, he was a member of the SnF research project Vicentino21 under the direction of Martin Kirnbauer.
