Luxa M. Schüttler works as a composer, performer and media artist with an aesthetic focus on the recontextualisation of social, media, performative, biographical or physical aspects of music. To this end, Luxa deliberately employs disparate sonorities, structural imbalances and sonic diversity, often interspersed with references to pop culture.

Luxa’s works are often created in collaboration with selected allies, such as the Nadar Ensemble, asamisimasa, MAM.manufaktur für aktuelle Musik, Ictus, the Ensemble Mosaik or the Trio Catch. In addition, Luxa’s music can be heard with numerous renowned ensembles (SWR Vocal Ensemble, Musikfabrik, hr-Sinfonieorchester, SWR Sinfonieorchester, Ensemble Modern, KNM Berlin, Ascolta, Contrechamps) and at international festivals (Warsaw Autumn, musica Strasbourg, Donaueschinger Musiktage, Darmstadt Summer Courses, Wien Modern). In addition, there are publications, radio broadcasts, lectures, courses, performances, installations, exhibitions and concerts worldwide.

After studying composition and music theory at the Folkwang University of the Arts with Nicolaus A. Huber and Ludger Brümmer, Luxa received scholarships from the ZKM Karlsruhe, Villa Serpentara, and others, and will be a fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin in 2023/24. Luxa taught at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts and at Philipps University in Marburg. Since 2014, Luxa has been professor of composition at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts.
