Thomas Giger (born in Basel in 1975) grew up in Basel and initially worked as a lighting technician and designer at Theater Basel before studying scenography at Zurich University of the Arts. He completed his master’s degree under Michael Simon. Giger developed lighting and stage concepts for productions by Bruno Cathomas, Teresa Vittucci, Laura Koerfer, Ruedi Häusermann, Werner Düggelin, Albrecht Hirche, Marat Burnashev, Antje Schuppus and others.

 

He also works continuously with the groups and individuals Malte Schlösser, Ben Burger, yuri500 and vorschlag:hammer. Thomas Giger has exhibited various works in the field of fine art at the House of Electronic Arts in Basel, the Bern University of the Arts and in public spaces in Winterthur. Among other things, Giger developed scenographies and spatial concepts for the performance festival ‘Perform Now’ in Winterthur, the House of Electronic Arts in Basel, and the Swiss Theatre Prize 2016 in Geneva. Thomas Giger is a winner of the Prix netzhdk and lives and works in Basel.
