Vera Burlak (*1977, Kyiv) studied Russian and Belarusian philology at the Belarusian State University. One focus of her academic research is poetry for children. Vera Burlak has been writing poetry since childhood. Her poetry is characterized by humorously combined elements of children’s poems and scary fairy tales. As a poet and slam poetry performer, Vera Burlak has been involved in numerous international literary projects. She is also active as an actress, performer and translator of English literature. Her poems have been translated into Czech, German, English, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian and Esperanto. She has been editor-in-chief of the magazine »Wachsfriedhöfe« since 1997. Vera Burlak left her hometown of Minsk with her family in the summer of 2023 and now lives in Stuttgart.
