The Ensemble Ascolta has been enriching the ECLAT Festival for many years with its idiosyncratic formation as part of the new music community in the Theaterhaus. The seven virtuoso, curious musicians, always ready to meet any challenge, offer a special sound and a rich palette of colours. In this edition, the festival consciously invites five young composers with very different horizons of experience and different artistic attitudes to make use of this palette and compose chamber music for ascolta–with all openness for what could happen in this »chamber«. First insights into the works show violent clashes of emotional worlds–of eroticism and violence on the one hand, of laughing and crying on the other, but also works that find their artistic basis entirely immanent in musical logic and structure.
