ANTHROPOSCENE deals with the possibilities of actively shaping the planet in the Anthropo-cene. With the help of technologies from the field of artificial intelligence, it examines the potential of artistic strategies in what has so far been a predominantly scientific discourse.

‘Historically speaking, the theatre is the medium of the socialnature only appears in it as a backdrop that can be changed at will. In the age of the Anthropocene, in which the most important social issues are environmental issues, we have to reconsider this exclusivity if the theatre is to remain socially relevant.’ The three authors declare the theatre a laboratory, though, unlike Buckminster Fuller’s Spaceship Earth, it is one that has numerous emergency exits. However, in the basic conditions for the experiments taking place in this laboratory, the theatre is similar to the planet as a whole in the Anthropocene: a closed space full of humans, a limited time span, an uncertain outcome.
