Multifaceted musician, a reference in his field due to his commitment to the current music of avant-garde and with everything related to current music and percussion.

Recognized by critics as »…an artist capable of the impossible, as well as creating spectacle« , the Spanish percussionist Juanjo Guillem deals with the most different proposals artistic thanks to its innumerable artistic and technical resources acquired through its expansive performances in major concert halls around the world.

 

As a soloist, he is a specialist in avant-garde music and has given recitals in Spain, Europe, Asia and America. A large number of composers have dedicated their works to him. He has premiered a large number of concertos for percussion and orchestra in deferents countries with orchestras such as the National Orchestra of Spain, OCB, OSM, OFM, among others.

 

Due to his interest in pedagogy, he created in 1994 the Center for Estudios NEOPERCUSIÓN, a private center dedicated to the teaching and development of percussion where, for years, he has focused his pedagogical activity. Artistic Director and founder of Neopercusion percussion group , with whom he has performed on all kinds of stages, from classical music festivals, contemporary music conferences as well as in manifestations of different performing arts with artists such as Arditti Quartet, Markus Stockhausen, among others.

 

As a composer he has written a large number of pieces, most of them for percussion, and has received commissions from various institutions such as the Center for the Diffusion of Contemporary Music, Valencia Institute of Music and Religious Music Festival of Cuenca some of which they are regularly performed by different international groups.

 

Trained at the Higher Conservatories of Valencia, Barcelona, Madrid, CNR of Strasbourg (France) and RNCM of Manchester (England). He has been a teacher of the conservatories of Madrid and Zaragoza, he is a regular teacher in various young orchestras and has organized and participated in a large number of summer courses teaching lessons in different study centers in Spain, Europe, America and Asia.

 

Since 2012 he is a professor of the Percussion pedagogical department of the Center Superior Katerina Gurska and at the Alfonso X »El Sabio« University. Artistic director of the cycles from Madrid mADRID aCTUAL (Ritmo Vital, Konekt@rte sonoro, Pleyades) and Agora Actual Percussió in Javea (Alicante).As an orchestra musician, he has been a member of different orchestras such as the Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelone and Madrid Symphony Orchestra, Since 1999 he has been soloist professor of the National Orchestra of Spain.
