Philipp Krebs (*1994) studied composition with Martin Schüttler and Marco Stroppa at the Stuttgart State University of Music and Performing Arts, philosophy at the University of Stuttgart, and master’s degree in composition with Gordon Kampe at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama. Concerts and performances took place at Donaueschingen Musiktage Next Generation, eclat Festival Stuttgart, ACHT BRÜCKEN Cologne, blurred edges Hamburg, Klub Katarakt Hamburg, Der Sommer in Stuttgart and Kyung Hee Composition Festival Seoul.

 

His works have been heard in collaborations with the Decoder Ensemble, AAA-AAA guitar duo, electronic ID, Pony Says, Suono Mobile, emex-Ensemble, ensemble recherche, and the Carl-Bechstein-Stiftung.His works are characterized by the inclusion of performative, installative, and (live) electronic elements, with extra-musical and visual components naturally juxtaposed with the sonic.

 

Thematic work focuses on the examination of (own) identity and biography in interaction inspired by critical engagement with contemporary pop culture, politics and philosophical aspects. Intensive and regular collaboration with instrumental soloists such as Thilo Ruck (Git), Felix Nagl (Pno), Neus Estrellas (Pno), Timm Roller (Git/Electronics) as well as the duo perspektivenbox (Uikyung Lee & Julian Siffert). Philipp Krebs additionally appears as a solo performer and improviser in various live electronic setups. Since 2019 Philipp Krebs is increasingly engaged in the composition of theater and film music. Philipp Krebs lives and works in Hamburg.
