Clemens K. Thomas, Miriam Götz: BÄ!

Musiktheater für Kinder

(2023)

Martin has moved to a new city with his father. He doesn’t feel at home here yet and he’s certainly not keen on all the changes and new things. His teddy bear Bä is quite different. Martin’s favorite fluffy cuddly toy is not just any teddy bear, but really alive and the best play partner with the craziest ideas. And so Bä begins to invent and build a sound-time machine out of the chaos of the moving boxes. The machine actually works, and Martin and Bä embark on the wildest fantasy worlds. They encounter a clock hand that is out of time, end up in a hot desert where Bä falls in love with a cactus, Martin has to rescue Bä from a dangerous situation and finally they meet a cyborg who is up to no good with Martin.

The music is as colorful as the fantasy worlds. Whether Bä accompanies himself on the ukulele in a love song, the cyborg world consists of digital birdsong or rhythmic language games help the clock hand back into time: Martin and Bä travel singing through tongue-in-cheek, imaginative worlds of sound.

A musical theater piece about the relationship between children and their cuddly toys, about friendship, trusting and helping each other and the boundless imagination of playing.
